The founding cohort is set and the pilot is underway. The waiting list is the way in: join it and we will email you before OurNews opens in early 2027.
OurNews is built to be a lightweight addition to your core ICT and communication infrastructure - so if you already use Compass, Schoolbox or Veracross, OurNews sits alongside it, not instead of it. There’s nothing to connect or integrate, and no overlap with your SIS. Most schools don’t have a specific ‘platform’ for external communication, but they do use a combination of social media, website, PDF newsletters and tools best suited for internal communication. We see OurNews as a way of consolidating these.
You choose per story. Who can find it: anyone, or only people who came in through your school’s Magic Link. Who can read it: anyone, or people who sign the visitors’ book. A stranger sees a hidden story’s title only. To read the rest, they sign the visitors’ book with an email address. Your content lives on encrypted servers in your region.
If we ever decide not to keep building OurNews after the pilot, we will tell you in writing, help you export and migrate your content, and keep the service running through a wind-down period. The export won’t be a stripped-down data dump: because your stories are stored as plain markdown files rather than something proprietary, you always have a real, usable archive.
